Getting there
Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) sits right at the neck of the Bukit peninsula, so Jimbaran is only about 15-25 minutes away and Nusa Dua and Sanur roughly 20-45 minutes. Uluwatu, Bingin and Padang Padang are usually about an hour by car, and traffic can make it longer at busy times.
Best time
The dry season, roughly April to October, usually brings clearer skies and the best sunsets. It is also when the west-coast surf tends to be strongest, so beaches under the cliffs can be rougher; the wetter months, roughly November to March, bring more showers but still plenty of good days. Midday is hot all year, so plan outdoor sights for morning and late afternoon.
Respect & safety
Wear a sarong and sash at temples, keep off ceremonies and do not step on the small offerings on the ground. Once a year Bali observes Nyepi, a day of silence when the whole island, including the airport, stands still - the date changes every year, so we check it for your trip. Beach steps are steep and tides and currents change quickly, so watch the flags and warnings.
Getting around
The sights are spread along winding roads, and public transport is limited, so a car with driver is the easiest way to link them. Ride-hailing apps work in some places, but pick-up rules differ by area and can be restricted. Scooters are common, but traffic is heavy, roads are steep and a licence and insurance are needed - we do not suggest them for beginners.
