Domestic travel between islands
Indonesia has 17,000 islands and three time zones. Flights are the practical way between islands (Garuda, Citilink, Batik, Lion, Super Air Jet); ferries and fast boats for short hops (Bali-Lombok-Gili, Labuan Bajo-Komodo). Fast boats can be cancelled in bad weather - keep a buffer day before international flights. Domestic flights have a luggage allowance that is often smaller than international ones.
