Weather, earthquakes and tsunamis in Indonesia
Indonesia sits on the Pacific 'Ring of Fire'. BMKG is the official agency for weather, earthquakes and tsunami warnings; install its app or follow its site when travelling, especially in the rainy season (roughly November-March) and on coasts.
Volcanoes
Several popular areas (Bali, Lombok, Flores, East Java, North Sumatra) have active volcanoes. Alert levels can close hiking trails and, rarely, airports. Check MAGMA Indonesia before a volcano hike or a flight during an eruption.
Disasters and crisis help
BNPB is the national disaster agency. In an emergency call 112 (see our Emergency page).
