Entry
Most sources say Indonesian citizens need a visa for Argentina. A simplified online authorisation (AVE) exists for people who hold certain other valid visas, such as a US visa - ask Argentina's immigration authority whether it applies to you. Otherwise apply for a visa at the Argentine embassy in Jakarta (allow several weeks). One travel site claims Indonesians are visa-free; this is not supported by the other sources, so do not rely on it. Bring a passport valid for 6 months, a return ticket, hotel details and proof of funds.
Culture and practical - take note
Argentines greet with a single cheek kiss, even between men and women, and love long meals: dinner often starts at 9-10 pm. Sharing mate (herbal tea) is a sign of friendship - take it in turn and say 'gracias' only when you are finished. Tip about 10%. Spanish is spoken, with an accent that differs from other countries. Prices, exchange rates and how foreigners pay have changed often - ask your hotel how best to pay and keep a card and some cash. Watch for pickpockets in Buenos Aires, and use official taxis or apps. Patagonia is windy and cold even in summer. For Iguazu Falls, the Brazilian side may need its own entry check - ask your operator. Halal food is limited.
