🏝️ Fiji

Entry rules, culture notes and emergency numbers.

Entry

Travel sources agree that Indonesian citizens can visit Fiji without a visa for tourism, for about 120 days, but none is an official page - confirm with the Fiji immigration ministry or the Fijian embassy before you book. Bring a passport valid for 6 months, a return or onward ticket, and proof of accommodation and funds. Overstaying is fined.

Culture and practical - take note

Say 'Bula!' to everyone. When visiting a village, ask permission first, bring a small gift (traditionally kava root, 'sevusevu') for the chief, dress modestly (cover shoulders and knees), take off your hat and sunglasses, and never touch anyone's head. Sundays are quiet - many shops close and families go to church. Tipping is not expected. The sun is very strong - use reef-safe sun cream. Respect reefs and wildlife, and follow the boat crew's safety advice. The cyclone season runs roughly November to April. Fiji has a large Indo-Fijian community, so halal and Indian food is easy to find. Island hopping depends on weather - leave a spare day.

Emergency

Reported numbers: police 917, ambulance 911, fire 910 - confirm with your hotel on arrival.
