Entry
Most sources say Indonesian citizens need a visa for Montenegro, applied for at a Montenegrin embassy or consulate before you travel (allow several weeks), while one site claims visa-free entry - do not rely on it. Confirm the current rule with the Montenegrin foreign ministry or embassy before you book. Montenegro is not part of the Schengen Area but uses the euro. Bring a passport valid for 6 months, a return ticket, hotel details and proof of funds. Foreign guests are registered with the police - hotels do this for you.

A sunny, flower-filled town at the entrance of the Bay of Kotor, with fortresses and a long seaside promenade.
A southern town with a hilltop old town, Oriental flavour and the long sandy Velika Plaža beach.

Culture and practical - take note
Montenegro is small, mountainous and welcoming. Most people are Orthodox Christian, with Muslim and Catholic communities. Dress modestly in churches and monasteries. Roads are narrow and winding - allow extra time and avoid driving at night. In the Bay of Kotor, the old town is crowded in summer: go early. Wildfires can occur in summer, and winters in the mountains are snowy. Tip about 10%. Tap water is generally safe. Beaches can be pebbly - bring water shoes. Halal food is limited outside Podgorica and Muslim towns such as Plav and Rozaje.
