Entry rules, culture notes and emergency numbers.

Entry

Travel guides agree that Indonesian citizens can visit Morocco for tourism without a visa for up to about 90 days, but they are not official sources - confirm with the Moroccan embassy in Jakarta or the Indonesian Foreign Ministry before you book. Nationalities that need a visa use the official e-visa portal. Carry a passport valid for at least 6 months, proof of onward travel and accommodation details; the officer may ask for them. Overstaying is fined even without a visa.

Culture and practical - take note

A Muslim country with a lively souk culture. Dress modestly (shoulders and knees covered) especially outside big cities; non-Muslims cannot enter most mosques except Hassan II in Casablanca. Bargaining is expected - start well below the asking price and smile. Refuse unofficial 'guides' who approach you in the medina; use licensed guides. Mint tea is a gesture of welcome. Ask permission before photographing people. Use your right hand to eat. Friday is the main prayer day; Ramadan changes daily rhythm. Alcohol is sold in tourist hotels and licensed shops. In a hammam, follow the attendant's instructions. Book Sahara tours with reputable operators; desert nights are cold. Halal food everywhere. Tip about 10%.

Emergency

Police 19 (cities) or Gendarmerie 177 (countryside). Ambulance and fire 15.
