Entry
Travel sources say Indonesian citizens can visit Rwanda for tourism without a visa for up to about 90 days, but none is an official page - confirm with the Rwanda immigration service or a Rwandan embassy before you book. Bring a passport valid for 6 months, a return ticket and hotel details. A yellow fever certificate is needed if you arrive from a risk country. Ask a doctor about malaria prevention.

Trek through misty bamboo forest to see mountain gorillas and golden monkeys on the slopes of the Virunga volcanoes.
Clean, hilly capital and main gateway, known for the Kigali Genocide Memorial, art galleries, cafés and lively markets.
Rwanda's savannah safari park, with lakes and wetlands and a chance to see lions, elephants, rhinos and hippos.
Ancient mountain rainforest known for chimpanzee tracking, many monkey species and a canopy walkway high above the trees.
Large, calm lake with lakeside towns, sandy shores, boat trips, kayaking and relaxed resorts to unwind after a safari.
Culture and practical - take note
Rwanda is very clean and orderly. Plastic bags are banned - do not bring them. On the last Saturday of each month there is 'Umuganda' (community work) and shops and traffic slow in the morning. Gorilla trekking needs a permit that is expensive and sells out - book early through the official tourism authority, bring sturdy shoes, keep the required distance and do not go if you have a cold. Dress modestly and be respectful at the genocide memorials; do not photograph where it is not allowed. Do not photograph government or military sites; drones are restricted. Some governments advise against travel to areas near the border with the DR Congo - check advisories. Tipping guides is appreciated. Halal food is limited outside Kigali.
Emergency
112 is the general emergency number. Ask your hotel or guide for local police and ambulance numbers.
