Entry

Seychelles does not require a normal visa for tourists, but travellers are asked to apply online for a free or low-cost Travel Authorisation before they fly (reported at about EUR 10; sources disagree on the exact fee and on the stay length, reported 30 days to 3 months). Apply only on the official government site and confirm the rules there. Bring a passport valid for 6 months, a return ticket, a confirmed hotel booking and proof of funds.

Culture and nature - take note

Seychelles is relaxed and welcoming, with a Creole culture. Many beaches are public, but nude or topless sunbathing is not allowed on public beaches. Coral, shells, sand and plants are protected: do not take them, and keep to marked paths in nature reserves. Never touch or ride the giant tortoises. Sea conditions change with the monsoon seasons - heed warning flags and swim at lifeguard beaches where possible. Prices are high, so compare packages; island-hopping ferries and domestic flights should be booked early. Halal food is limited on some islands - tell your hotel in advance.
