Entry
Indonesian citizens need a Standard Visitor visa for every trip - the UK's online Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is only for visa-free nationalities and does not apply to you. Apply online through the official gov.uk service, then give fingerprints and a photo at a visa application centre in Indonesia (VFS Global). The fee was raised in April 2026 (around GBP 135 for 6 months - check the official fee page) plus the centre's service charges; processing takes about 3 weeks, so apply early. Show funds, a travel plan and ties to Indonesia. Never use agents who 'guarantee' a visa, and use only the .gov.uk site.
Culture - take note
Queue patiently, keep to the left on pavements and escalators in many places, and say 'please', 'thank you' and 'sorry' often. In pubs you order and pay at the bar; tipping is 10-12.5% in restaurants (check if a service charge is already added). Drive on the left. Be punctual. Cities have many CCTV cameras and rules are followed. Weather changes quickly - carry a light waterproof. Healthcare is free for residents but NOT for most visitors - buy travel insurance. Halal food and mosques are common in big cities. Pickpocketing happens in tourist areas. Ireland is a different country with different entry rules.
Emergency
999 (or 112) for police, fire and ambulance.
